Creating a Buzz: How Uprise Labs leveraged cutting edge technology for Bees in the D's expansion

Founded in 2016, Bees in the D (BITD) has grown its programming and services exponentially in the past few years, from six hives in 2016 to over 200 hives in 73 locations in 2022.

A large percentage of their operating income comes from honey sales and donations, making driving web traffic extremely critical to their mission.

The organization only has one part-time staff member, so it relies heavily on volunteers support its operations. Dispite BITD having a large volunteer pool, there has often been a misalignment between the skills they need for volunteer projects and the availability of those skills in the pool, as well as an issue successfully reactivating users in the volunteer pool.

Together we embarked on an array of new projects that leveraged technology to help drive users to their website, drive users to purchase and donate on the site and create the tools for them to maximize the impact of their volunteers.

PROGRESS

Since partnering with Bees in the D, our efforts have yielded remarkable progress. We completed a comprehensive overhaul of the organization's website, implementing an effective SEO strategy, resulting in a higher ranking on search engines. Consequently, the website has received a significantly higher volume of traffic, and users are engaging more with Bees in the D.

The impact of our efforts is reflected in the organization's financial growth, with a notable 16.2% increase in average monthly online store revenue since the project's inception. Our team also introduced new volunteer management software to the site, resulting in a remarkable 55% increase in volunteer participation rates.
